【释义】《玉篇》：“殡殓也。入棺也。”《集韵》：“衣死也。”本义为给死者穿衣入棺，称为入殓。入殓时，亲属和子女要大哭，因为入棺后将成永别。又分为小敛（殓）和大敛（殓），前者是给死者沐浴、穿衣、覆衾，后者是将已装裹的尸体放入棺材。入棺后，尸体头枕寿枕，仰面伸躯，口中含珠玉米贝等物，称为含敛（殓）。最后盖棺钉板，完成仪式。
