【析形】形声字。小篆字形从骨，宾声。俗体从肉，宾声，为后世沿用。隶、楷字形肉旁讹作月。
【释义】《说文》：“厀端也。”本义是膝盖骨，指膝盖部分的一块骨头，略呈三角形，尖端向下。又指古代一种削去膝盖骨的酷刑。《韩非子·难言》：“孙子膑脚于魏。”刘献廷《广阳杂记》：“膑，五刑中去膝盖骨之名，齐将孙膑，为庞涓断其足，故称孙膑，其名逸不可考，膑非名也。”
