【析形】会意字。古文字形从丝，从軎(wèi)，像以缰绳连軎。軎是套在车轴末端的金属制圆筒状物，上有穿口，用以纳辖。
【释义】《说文》：“马辔也。与连同意。《诗》曰：‘六辔如丝。’”本义指驾驭牲口用的缰绳。又指套在骡马等头上的笼头，用来系缰绳，有的并挂嚼子。[六辔]古一车四马，马各二辔，其两边骖马之内辔系于轼前，谓之“軜”，御者只执六辔。
【shape analysis】It is the associative character. In ancient charactor it is related to 丝(sī,silk) plus 軎(wèi,). The character shapes like a rope connecting to軎， a sort of metal cylinder that was put on the end of cart axle. In addition, there was usually a hole in it for fitting linchpin.
