【析形】甲骨文、金文字形为会意字，像两个人面对面坐着，中间是盛食物的器皿，会相聚宴飨之意。小篆字形增意符食。
【释义】《说文》：“乡人饮酒也。”本义是乡人相聚宴饮。引申泛指以酒食款待人。又引申泛指请人享用，如[以飨读者]。
